Our Friends at Missionary Chocolates

Move over, Willy Wonka, and welcome Melissa Berry and her incredible crew at Missionary Chocolates to the table! Talk about dream team and dream product all wrapped into one! Walk into their brick-and-mortar and you're all but guaranteed to feel incredibly welcome and hungry simultaneously.
Melissa began Missionary over a decade ago and continues to flourish on NE Glisan Street near the Laurelhurst neighborhood. What makes Missionary so good? The products are dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan, AND THEY'RE CHOCOLATE! It was quite clear from our visit that each piece is made with great attention to detail and a whole lot of love.
Amongst our favorites during our visit were the seasonal Blood Orange Cardamom Truffle and the Earl Grey Truffles. The Chocolate Covered Potato Chips were standouts, as were the Chocolate Covered Pretzels. We watched with anticipation as marshmallows were covered in chocolate and then sprinkled with crushed candy canes after their ride through the conveyor belt...heavenly...and we half-expected to see Lucy and Elthel stuffing their faces at the end of the belt. We would have been very happy to stand in their places.
Run, don't walk, to Missionary Chocolate in NE Portland! We're told you ought to consider ordering early for holiday treats in the next couple of months. What great hostess gifts though!!! And they ship as well!
Thanks so much to Melissa and all of the folks at Missionary for making our visit just so darned good! And watch for a few process videos on our Instagram and Facebook pages...they even poured some chocolate into our Garnish-sized molds while we were there! So very fun! If it's vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free, it's essentially health food..... Enjoy!
