6 Reasons you need a little jacket
Everyone needs a little jacket (or two, or five). They are a workhorse of any wardrobe and they come in all shapes and forms. We could write 10 blog posts on this subject alone, but let's start with 6 things that a little jacket can do for you...
1. Solve your temperature issues.
Let's face it, we all have them at every age and for every reason...
- It's 90 degrees out, but the AC in the office is set to 60
- The plane is freezing, no wait, now it's a million degrees in here
- You're cold now, but that hot flash is minutes away and you'll need to strip down in record time to dang near naked
- You always run cold, even in the summer
2. Add length to an outfit
Ok, we hear daily how much you hate your mid-sections or that you wish you were taller. But instead of just hating on it, let's work with it in a positive way. Try wearing a jacket (long or short) OPEN to add length to the outfit. This not only keeps the eye moving up and down, but for those who want to cover the midsection... mission accomplished, without making your top half look too boxy.
3. When your outfit needs... something.
Remember that 3rd piece rule we taught you recently? Here is your third piece. Maybe you're just wearing standard issue jeans and a tee, you want to add a bit more interest to your outfit, but aren't feeling a belt or jewelry... add a jacket. (Not to say you can't ALSO add the belt and/or jewelry). Or maybe your dress for the gala is just missing a bit of penache? Add jacket with an interesting texture! And the good news is, you can always take it off at anytime.
4. Not highlight your arms
We also hear this all the time: "I hate my arms". First off, no one ELSE hates your arms and truly, they don't deserve such treatment, but we get it, we all have our hang ups. A jacket can solve that AND add interest to your outfit so no one needs to know your true intent.
5. Dress your outfit down or up
You're at work and looking all office-y, but heading out with your gal pals immediately after for a casual dinner. Dress your outfit DOWN with denim jacket. Same goes for that beautiful dress that you bought to attend an event, but it sits in your closet because it's "too fancy". Get creative!
Or you're working from home in your house sweats and suddenly realize it's time to pick up the kids or a gallon of milk. No time to change, but you can't be caught in just your sweats... throw on a jacket.
6. Provides some sun protection
I know, this sounds like your mother in your ear, but truly, the sun is something to pay attention to. I'm getting sun spots all over, and it's both a beauty and potentially a health issue. (I'm trying to remind myself that aging is sexy and I'm considering them to be freckles instead of aging or sun spots, but there is no denying that they are poppin up everywhere!). A little jacket can help protect your skin from the sun's effects.
Hope this helps! And we're here for you should you need a bit more guidance or to see all of these tips in person. Pop in or book an appointment and we'll show you all of this and more. We can't wait to style you.
